Community comes together to do Bolton Carol service

The carol service will be streamed on YouTube and Facebook on Monday December 21 thanks to the work of over 40 different Bolton  churches, Christian organisations and community groups.
Advertising for the event is appearing across the town, on six billboards, 35 buses, 16,000 Christmas cards, 400 posters and 48 large banners throughout this month. The event has been organised by the ‘Passion for Bolton 2030 Vision’ steering team, Bolton’s town-wide church unity group, who aim to “share the love of God across Bolton by encouraging churches to work together to support each other and support the Bolton community.” There will be music from choirs and music groups including St Peter’s Halliwell, The Salvation Army, King’s Church Breightmet, Bolton Parish Church and the Bolton Music Service as well as messages from Barry Woodwar from Proclaim Trust and Dave Bagley at Urban Outreach.
John Squires, from The Bridge Church off Bury New Road, who put the event together, said: “Everyone who is involved has contributed so much in any way they could, from the smaller churches to the big churches and the local schools. “We have really tried to engage lots of different groups from across the community and church. “We’ve really tried to promote the work of Urban Outreach with this as it’s their 30th birthday and all the great work they do. “Hopefully as many people will see the signs across Bolton and get involved with the carol service and then Urban Outreach because of it.” Dave Bagley, said: “Most churches do their own service every year but many have had to be cancelled. “It’s great to see lots of organisations come together for this to do this for the very first time.
“Hopefully it will be the only time we’ll have to do it in this way but it should be great for so many people who enjoy going to carol services every year.
