
The cave of Agia Marina, is located about 1 km west of Dafni in the Municipality of Visaltia.
Remains of frescoes dating from the Palaeologan period have come to light in the central part of the chapel-hermitage, with characteristic representations of the Enthroned Virgin Mary and Jesus Christ.

According to the locals, during Turkocracy (period of Ottoman rule in Greece) the small cave was a refuge for persecuted Christians. At the top of the granite rock, on the slopes of which is the cave of Agia Marina, ruins of a Byzantine fortification are preserved. This is the so-called tower of Agia Marina.
The tower – which is not preserved in good condition – dates back to the first half of the 14th century and was probably property of the Monastery of Iviron of Mount Athos.
