[DEVOTIONAL] TREM Devotional 3 June 2018 by Dr. Mike Okonkwo – No Favoritism With God

Topic: No Favoritism With God [TREM Devotional Sunday June 3, 2018]

“Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:” Acts 10:34

The New Living Translation says “Then Peter replied, “I see clearly that God shows no favouritism.”” Did you see that? The God you serve isn’t given to preferential treatment; He loves you absolutely and wholly, like you are the only one in the universe.

It is human to show preferential treatment, but God is not a man. This also shows that everyone has equal access to the promises of God, it’s available for everyone. So, how come some people are benefitting from it, and the rest are not. It is important to have it established in your heart the fact that God loves us all as individuals, He doesn’t love one person more than the other.

John 3:36 (NLT) tells us that “anyone who believes in God’s Son has eternal life…” Did you see that? It says it’s available to anyone that believes. The promises of God are written in the scriptures to show you what God has already perfected in eternity. When you read through the scriptures, you see several examples of what God did, for He loves you like you are the only one in the universe. He is not like man that shows preference, He loves you as an individual.

If you read the entire Acts 10, you will read about a man named Cornelius. He was a Roman soldier, and so was different from the Jews, who were God’s own people at the time. The Jews considered unclean anyone who wasn’t a Jew, but yet God visited him. You see by Peter’s standards, Cornelius wasn’t one to be associated with, especially when it comes to the things of God, but thank God because His ways are not our ways, His thoughts are not our thoughts. Despite being a gentile as far as Peter is concerned, God reached out and touched him and not only was Cornelius saved, but his household too.
