Community churches in Peasedown St John and Foxcote, near Shoscombe, are set to re-open for public worship on Sunday 14th March, Mothering Sunday.
St John’s Church Peasedown, and St James’ Church Foxcote, are both part of the St J’s Group Anglican Benefice – led by Revd Matthew Street. Places of Worship have been allowed to remain open during the third national lockdown in England, but parishioners voted to close both churches in early January.
Revd Matthew Street said:
“It will be great to welcome back members of both congregations for worship on Mothering Sunday! As before though we’re continuing to follow strict government guidelines when it comes to the wearing of face masks, social distancing and the use of hand sanitizer. We all have a responsibility to help prevent the spread of Covid-19, and local Anglican churches are determined to play our part!” St John’s Peasedown is using an online booking system, where those wishing to attend church will need to reserve a seat in advance.
Despite the church being Peasedown’s biggest indoor venue with a capacity of 250 people, the church can only allow 34 parishioners to attend – ensuring social distancing guidelines can be adhered to. St James’ Foxcote, similar to St Julian’s in Wellow, will not be using a booking system. From Sunday 14th March, regular church services taking place in the St J’s Group will be:
St. Julian’s Church Wellow at 10am
St. James’ Church Foxcote at 11.15am
St. John’s Church Peasedown at 4.30pm
