THE DECEIVER AND HIS DECEITS (Part 1)
There is no time the devil comes to any one with his true identity. Whenever he comes the real intentions of his actions are never declared from the beginning. Truths are only revealed after people who swallow his baits are entrapped, ensnared, and deceived with lethal consequences. No wonder he is called a deceiver of the whole world (Revelation 12:9), murderer from the beginning, a liar and father of lies (John 8:44). Jesus warned us to be careful not to be deceived (Matthew 24:4); and to try every spirit to know if they are from God because many deceivers have gone into the world (1 John 4:1).
All the works of the devil are carried out in the dark and shrouded in secrecy. Every work done in lie and deceit is done in the dark. But every work done in truth is declared in the open because there is no wicked agenda to hide. The devil hates the truth and does not speak the truth, that is why he encodes his operations because if people get to know the truth or his real intentions, they will resist same and not subject to his control. Jesus while speaking in John 3:20-21 said: “For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.” Every word and work of God is in truth. That is why
Jesus categorically told his disciples to declare openly whatever he tells them in secret. In Matthew 10:27, he said this: “what I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.” This is not the same with the devil and his activities.
Citing some examples from the word of God of devils deceitful works are timeous here. In Genesis 3:1-7, the serpent came to our first mother. The following encounter ensured.
Devil: Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden?
Eve: We May eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden. But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, ye shall not eat of it, neither shall Ye touch it, lest ye die. Devil: Ye shall not surely die: for God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and Ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Eve focused on the pleasantness of the fruit and forgot about the consequences forewarned by God and the end result was death both spiritual and physical, sickness and poverty.
The deceiver smiled and thought that man was lost forever but God had a different plan.
